Martial Arts Tricking

Let's move on to a new interest, yes?
I see Martial Arts Tricking as sort-of like a sub-genre of Parkour/Free Running. I've been doing it on/off ever since I started Free Running, I'm not great at it in the least bit, it definitely takes a lot of training to get truly good at it, but it's definitely a hell of a lot of fun.

Martial Arts Tricking: Tricking (martial arts tricking) is the informal name of a relatively new underground alternative sport movement, combining martial arts, gymnastics, and other activities to create an aesthetic blend of flips, kicks, and twists.

Now, if you're wondering what in the hell I'm talking about, check out this video c:
This video is the highlights from Team Loopkicks, one of the largest MAT teams that I know of, and it is absolutely insane.

Now if you've been inspired by this to go & try and learn some MAT, just search up YouTube, there are tutorials & how-to's galore.

Final Thoughts: People are always immensely impressed watching me/others do even just the simplest MAT moves. It's fun, a great workout, and will definitely impress the ladies ;)

Dreadlocks, Dreadlocks, Dreadlocks

Dreadlocks! C: After 8 hours of intense labor, 4 movies, and a LOT of time on YouTube, my friend Cheyenne and I finally finished backcombing all of my hair.

I've had my dreadlocks (though I shouldn't even really call them that because they're not dreadlocks YET, they still have to lock up which will take a couple weeks+) for 2 days, and I LOVE THEM.

I look extremely weird, my hair is short, and my dreadlocks are not pretty in the least bit, but I am completely happy with them and I cannot wait to see how they grow and mature.

As for if I'm going to make a blog about dreads, I am not. Simply because I wouldn't have enough to make a good blog but, since it is included in my interests, whenever something worth talking about happens with my hair, or if I have some advice or anything of that sort, I will post it on this blog c:

Enough of the rambling though, I suppose the most important part, probably the only part that people will actually look at in this post; pictures.

Like I said, I look really bad :p but I'm kind of at the point where I really just don't give a f**k what people think of me anymore, so enjoy!

Two Small Updates

Update 1: Pole Vault.

I'm getting better! :D I had about a two weeks span recently where I started doing really badly and I just could not get anything tuned in right, but I'm getting my groove back & figured I'd share with you guys, a video from my last weeks practice. It's by far not my best vault, but I'm getting there.

The bungy cord that I went over was at around 13 feet. Which means that I only have to get up 4 more inches to leave my school with a school record! :D

Update 2: Dreadlocks.

Yesterday, my girlfriend and I began the process of backcombing my hair to put an early start on my dreadlocks. As of right now, only the back of my hair is dreaded. We are going to spend the rest of today working on the front of my hair. Of course, it will still take a couple weeks of my head looking very nappy and stupid for my hair to start looking like good dreadlocks, but as for now, they actually look a lot better than I thought that they would. I will post pictures as soon as my whole head has been dreaded c:

Dreadlocks.

Dreadlocks. I think they are, by far, the most beautiful hair style one can get (as long it is done naturally.) And guess what? I'm starting mine in four days! I'm extremely excited. I've been waiting almost two months to start locing my hair.

For those who don't know; Dreadlocks are a natural hairstyle in which the hair is twisted into long matted or ropelike locs.

Dreadlocks occur naturally in any type of hair over time. All that is needed to be done is absolutely nothing. Your hair will start locking up overtime as long as it is not combed (ever) & chemical shampoos and conditioners are not used (this includes just about every shampoo & conditioner on the market.)

Many people get the wrong idea about dreadlocks, assuming that they are nasty, smell bad, never washed, not taken care of, etc. Where this may be true in some cases, it is almost always not true. A person who truly cares about their dreadlocks does wash them every couple of days, and for a long time, they actually do require a good bit of maintenance to keep them looking good.

You can wash dreadlocks. Just, not with products that are sold at normal stores. I will actually be making my own shampoo out of natural oils, to leave my hair soft(ish) & smelling goooood :)

Well, my whole reason for this post is that I have an idea, and a question for those of you who follow my blog:

Should I make a second blog, devoted to my experience to come, locking up my hair?

I figure I could post progress on how it looks, length, upkeep that I do, etc. Sound like a good idea? c:

Contact Juggling AND Light Shows

Ok, this will be a real short post. Not much to say about this one, almost everything that needs to be said about it has been said in other posts.
That being said, I had a post a while back about the wonders of Contact Juggling as well as my previous post about the joys of Rave Glove Light Shows. Well, needless to say, I was absolutely amazed when I came across this video of a couple guys doing an awesome combination of these two activities.
I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did c:

Rave Glove Light Shows

As you can see from my last post, I had an amazing time at the Skrillex concert that I went to. It wasn't a rave, but more of what you would get if you combined a rave with a metal concert.
I say this because it is related to my newest obsession, gloving.

Gloving comes in many different types & styles, but what it generally is, is you have gloves on that have LED's in each of the fingers, and usually an LED in your palm. You turn out the lights and perform 'light shows' with your hands.

Like I said, there are many different types & styles of it; such as finger tutting, liquids, rolling, etc.
I'm fairly new to the whole scene, so I'm not even going to attempt to try and describe each, or explain how they work, but I will share with you a couple of my favorite 'light shows' that I have come across.

Also, I'm going to start working on my own video of doing this, once my gloves come in the mail c: I've been practicing without anything a LOT since I saw someone doing it at the concert & I really love it and can't wait to get my gloves.

Here are two of my favorite light shows that I have come across, and that have been the inspiration for my practicing & whatnot:

This first one isn't the best of quality, but his style is probably my favorite of everyone that I have seen!

This second video is by a much more well known raving group, team[e]. This girl does mainly what is called 'finger tutting' & she is completely amazing at it.

Final Thoughts: Gloving is a lot of fun. It looks amazing, puts people in awe, (and though it hasn't been tested by me, personally) I completely assume that it will get you the girls c; I also love gloving because 1) you don't need gloves to practice it, which means that 2) you can practice it anytime, anywhere.

SKRILLEX

Five straight hours of soaking wet grinding, being thrown around uncontrollably, & insane, heart-shattering bass.

This is exactly what I experienced at the Skrillex concert that I went to last night.
6 Friends & I waited 5 hours outside the venue to ensure that we had front row, right close & personal with the artists. (and it was completely worth it)

The doors opened at about 8:30 pm, we got in first of course & went straight up to the stage to secure our spots. At about 9 pm Mysterio comes onto the stage (unexpected) and played his heart out. His live show wasn't all that great. They actually plan it so that the opening artists don't use much of the lighting at all, and they also keep them a bit quieter than the main artist (Skrillex). After about a half hour, Zedd comes on to play, they turn up the volume a bit & give him some more noise, it started getting a little intense. Then, after about an hour of Zedd playing, Porter Robinson comes on, again they turn up the volume a bit and give him some more effects, he did great, though he played a bit longer than I wanted (about an hour & 1/2 - 2 hours.)

Then after Porter Robinson, Skrillex comes on. All hell broke loose. They turn on 15 huge LED screen, bring out 2 additional subs, bring out dancers & the entire crowd just got insane.

If you're looking for an amazing f*cking concert to go to, go to a Skrillex concert. That was one of the best $30 I've ever spent.

If you don't know who I am talking about, here is a list of videos with each of the artists that appeared, in order.

Zedd

Porter Robinson

Skrillex

Final thoughts: If you're ever looking for an intense workout, ear-shattering bass, tons of gorgeous ladies & just an all-around awesome time; try going to a Skrillex concert. Oh.. and.. YES! OH MY GOD!

Hooping.

Hooping is an awesome activity. Personally I have never done it, I've never really had the time to get into it. My ex-girlfriend Amber is actually very good at it & that is how I have come to know about it. Though I don't do it, I do find it extremely interesting.

Hooping: generally refers to artistic movement and dancing with a hoop (or hoops) used as a prop or dance partner.

Now the reason that I am writing about this particular activity is because it is very, very closely related to Contact Juggling ( <-- my article on that). Both utilize the art of isolationism (giving the illusion that the object is still & your body is moving around it.)

Now, I figure that you have absolutely no idea what I am talking about, so check out this video! (Skip about a minute into the video to get into the good stuff.)

I'd really like to get into it, just for the fun of it.

Let me know what you think of it :)

Apologies.

Sorry for the absence. I've been on vacation for the 4th of July weekend. I'll be headed home in a day or two, and then I'll start posting more random, pointless stuff :)

Happy 4th of July to all of my fellow Americans!
